IThe end of the school is fast approaching and that means I will be ending my role soon as your PTA President. I was recently looking at some of the entries of the finalist for the Texas PTA Reflection Contest. The theme this year was “WOW!” One particular entry titled W.O.W. (Words of Wisdom) caught my eye. A 4th grader wrote, “I had possibly the best teachers in the world. They are my big wow.” I absolutely agree with that 4th grader with an addition. This year I had possibly the best teachers, parents, students, community friends and PTA Board members in the world to support me this year. You are my big WOW! It was a challenging but interesting year with the arrival of IKE and our changing economy, but overall I had a lot of fun serving and learning with all of you. I want to give a huge thanks to Mrs. West, Mrs. Shatto and the office staff, for all their assistance. You were always there to lend a helping hand when needed and I appreciate that. From everyone’s support we were able to accomplish our goals for this school year with the overall idea of making every child’s dream a reality. I want to encourage you to continue your stand for your child’s education through the efforts of PTA. It was an honor to serve you. The Rustic Oak PTA is in the process of revising its Bylaws and Standing Rules in accordance with the Texas PTA guidelines. Please stop by the VIP room to review a copy of the proposed changes. You can review the current Bylaws and Standing Rules as well. If you can't get to the VIP room but would still like to review the proposed changes, please contact Wendy Chicoria, PTA parliamentarian, to receive a copy. The deadline to propose any additional changes is February 13, 2009. All changes submitted by February 13th will be voted on at the next general PTA meeting on March 19th. Please remember to continue cutting box tops, Campbell's, Tyson, and Nestle labels. Also, save those cans! |
